WHAT IS THE VESTIBULAR SYSTEM?

The vestibular system is a sensory system located in your inner ear, relaying information to the brain about where you are in space to keep you balanced. Your brain and eyes are also involved in this integration. If the system is compromised through aging, injury (such as a concussion), or sometimes no known cause, vestibular disorders can present.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Step 1

Book an appointment by either calling 226-748-9494 or schedule an appointment online.

Step 2

Before your first session, you will receive a welcome email. This will prompt you to set up an account so you can book subsequent treatment sessions online. Welcome to the 21st century!

Step 3

You will also be sent a link to fill out our online intake form. It should only take 5 minutes and must be completed prior to your first appointment.

Step 4

Not sure what to wear? Bring shorts and a t-shirt. That’s usually the best.

Step 5

We recommend you have someone drive you to your vestibular assessment. While this isn’t mandatory and you will be able to drive, you may feel symptomatic afterwards. This might seem backwards, but to identify the cause of your symptoms, we often need to induce them. We have a longer assessment time of 90 minutes so you can take breaks if needed. You won’t need a driver after your follow up appointments, and you are always welcome to sit in the waiting room if you need to afterwards.

Step 6

How long will I be? Your first concussion session will be approximately 90 minutes. We want to be able to go through a detailed assessment, but also provide treatment on day one so you can experience results sooner. Subsequent treatment sessions are usually 30-60 minutes in duration one-on-one with your physiotherapist or athletic therapist.

Step 7

Where are we located? 408 Albert Street, Waterloo, ON. Parking is free. When you arrive, you will be greeted by our Client Experience Team.

Step 8

After your initial assessment, you will receive an individualized treatment plan so you know exactly what to expect as we work together to reach your ultimate goal.

Step 9

At the end of each session, an invoice will be provided directly to you so that you can claim through extended health care benefits.
